We met in 1992 as classmates in the Master of Engineering program at the Indian Institute of Science. Ours was one of the largest groups of women that year, and since there weren't enough hostel rooms, we were housed in a small bungalow on campus — Bungalow No. 2, affectionately called BG2. That space was filled with late-night discussions, shared ideas, and the beginning of how we learned to solve hard problems together.
We went on to build careers at PayPal, Oracle, Cisco, and Checkr — spending 30 years designing systems, scaling operations, and leading teams through complex transformations.
That bungalow is where everything started for us. We named bg2.ai after it — as a tribute to the place that shaped how we think and how we work. Everything we do still starts the same way it did there: with curiosity, clarity, and care.
Anjana has spent 30 years at PayPal, Checkr, Oracle, and Cisco — building products, scaling global operations, and leading teams through complex technical transformations. She started bg2 because she kept seeing the same pattern: small and mid-size businesses struggling with operational challenges she'd solved at scale, but without the budget or team to tackle them the traditional way.
